To our Valued Donors, Students and Educational Partners:
For 11 years, New Triad has taken great pride in the work we do, successfully delivering a unique performance training experience to prepare classical musicians for 21st century audiences. That experience has been described by participants and educators as innovative, life-changing and filling a gap in higher music education.
As our business evolved and the funding landscape changed, we attempted to change with it, adopting new funding strategies, faculty agreements and training focus. Yet, our core mission remained the same, that is, helping to train a different type of performer for our times who is visually engaging, comfortably speaks with audiences and is expressive beyond technique. We built relationships with schools, institutions and festivals based on trust and the confidence that our programs would deliver value to both the next generation of performers and all the people they would touch through their moving performances.
We have not solicited or received any individual contributions since December 31, 2013. However, with the help of grants from the Sorel Organization and the Gerda Lissner Foundation, in 2014 we presented successful and well-received programs at the National Opera Association Annual Convention in New York City, The University of Tennessee at Knoxville, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and the Vancouver International Song Institute.
In the face of a challenging economy and funding landscape, we have increasingly had to rely on the generosity of our Board of Directors to fund program deficits while maintaining the overall solvency of New Triad. It is now, with a heavy heart, that I must inform you that the New Triad business model is not sustainable, and the Board of Directors has approved a Plan of Dissolution to be filed with the New York State Attorney General. We expect this process to be concluded in mid-2015, at which time the Board of Directors will allocate any remaining funds to other charitable organizations involved in musical performance in accordance with IRS and NYS statutes for not-for-profit corporations (501.c.3).
Thank you for your support over the past 11 years. It has been our privilege to be the careful stewards of your generosity.
